I have decided that I will be posting more on this blog these months. I think it is a really cool way how to stay connected with my friends as well as share the experience I am going through. Also now the time is quite relax so I can use the most of it.

I was thinking about the last weeks since I came to Brazil and they have been really chilled. I don't remember when I felt so much calmness and peace. I am feeling really happy about my life and the way I live it. I have a great job that I enjoy, but I have also enough time for myself and my personal life... That's so great! It may sound like a very obvious thing, but for me it is not. I remember time when this was not happening at all therefore I am so much grateful for it now!

I have realized that I haven`t posted anything about my holidays in Brazil. I spent almost a week there after IC. Firstly I went to Rio de Janeiro and spent two days there. It is an amazing place to be. I didn`t expect so much but it turned out to be one of the most beautiful places I have been to. I enjoyed my two days so much there and I regretted leaving so early. After Rio de Janeiro I moved to Salvador. After 2,5 hour flight we ended up in a completely different part of Brazil. This part has a lot of African influence. Experience in Salvador was very different than the previous one. Me and Tina were staying with Felipe and his family which made us feel Brazil as local people. We had great time there, we had fun and there was good care taken of us by Barca who was our guide as well as translator. Communicating with my poor Spanish was not very useful therefore I needed a lot of help. We did a lot of sightseeing in Salvador, visited many different places and tasted various (sometimes weird:-) food.

Brazil was a very nice experience, great days of relax as well as getting to now new country and culture. It was my first time in Latin America and I am sure that I have learnt a lot from this experience. I realized the value of things that are obvious and sometimes for granted in Europe but many people still lack there...

IC 2008, Sao Paulo

IC 2008 in Brazil ... 600 delegates, 200 alumni and 150 external guests...

IC was a great experience. It was very intense but unforgettable. I think I have challenged my own limits as never before. Having ten days of ER agenda meant that we had to be 10 days in formal clothes, smiling and taking care of our guests. It doesn't sound that difficult but in reality it takes a lot of effort to handle that. Especially if you don't have half day of to relax and be alone for a while without interacting to anyone. IC was a very different experience than last year. Mainly because I had completely different delegates than the rest of AI team. Our ER team had our own external guests to take care of. That means that we hardly showed up in plenary, interacted with delegates or were involved in session delivery. Our days were full of meetings with different partners and dry-runs of partner launches. Whole day we were interacting with people who are at least ten or twenty years older than we are. Sometimes it was really exhausting but it was worth when I think about people I spoke to or when I think about different conversations I had.For me IC was also about reconnecting. I was extremely happy to meet friends I have not seen for a year or more. Even though my agenda was very busy I tried to find some time every day to be with people that are important to me. It was also so cool to be again together at least with a part of our MC. Even though we have been going through different experiences during last three months we still belong to each other. We had good time together remembering our experience from the last year. It was also very interesting to listen to their stories from the countries they currently live in.

I almost forgot that I have not update my blog for a while. Why? There are always many things to do that I hardly remember to do that. So what's new with me...

I am not in transition any more. I am already handling my own responsibilities and enjoying my job role. Since I posted the last time, I managed to have several company meetings in the Netherlands, Belgium and the UK - really exciting job. This seems to be also the right time to explain a bit about the work that I am doing. I am responsible for three current global partners, I am handling development of Developing Leaders Day for IC in Malaysia and my big focus should be also on new sales in Europe and hopefully also outside. I am working in the ER team with 5 more people. We have a great time together, starting with ER drinks, ending with our really specific sense of humor. :-) I am really happy to see that ER culture is kept on all level of the organization.

I am not living in our house anymore. I moved to Hofdijk which is the place where the most of AI members live. I like it very much as we stay together as one big family. My parents came to see me in Rotterdam as well. It was so cool to show them the place where I live and also to travel a bit around Rotterdam.

I am so happy that Rotterdam has become my new home. I love coming back, I have great people around and I am enjoying my job.... What else to wish more...? Hmm, I know... Let's see.

First 2 weeks on AIESEC International

As usually I again forgot to post some news on my blog. As usually so many things are happening that I never find time to do that.

So what`s the update from my side?

I have successfully passed my state exam which was a big relief for me because I would have got into troubles if I had failed because I wouldn`t have any time to do that. It feels so good to have it done… Even though it`s just about having two letters in front of my name, it matters a lot!

Now I`m finally in Rotterdam after two weeks of my transition… still six more to go! I`m extremely excited about my new role and I`m really enjoying my time here. It seems that this is exactly the change I needed in my life – new environment, new people, new work….new beginning!

Last two weeks were very intense, so many things were happening at the same time. I moved to Rotterdam at the end of May. I`m living in a very nice house. It`s such a pleasure after spending one year on MC flat.:-) The only disadvantage about it is that it`s quite far from the office so we have to walk every morning about 40mins to get to the office. I`m staying with Ewelina(Poland) and Mo(Romania). The first weekend we spent on the beach in Den Haag. It`s a bit different than other beaches around the world but still it`s a very nice place to go – very relaxing with many nice bars. This weekend we spent one day catching up with our ER transition and Sunday was about chilling. I didn`t do anything. I was sleeping, browsing internet, cooking, watching football (very sad activity to do☹) and cleaning.

Besides being involved in the transition, I have managed to sign up to a gym. It`s such a cool gym. It has 6 floors and you can do many different activities. I love it! It`s very close to the office which is the way how to keep work/life balance…

The plan for this weekend…? I want to buy a bike. Everybody here has a bike, it`s a national hobby. After spending two weeks here, I understand why. Therefore I want to have one as well. So the plan is clear: buy a bike and discover Rotterdam. ☺ Can`t wait to do that…

Changes in my life

It has been more than a week since I know where my life is heading to... I was selected for Corporate Relations Manager, AISEC International which means that at the end of May I will be moving to Rotterdam to start my new experience there...It's hard to describe what I feel now. It is still hard to believe it... I still don't know what it really means to live 14 months abroad but I am very excited to find it out.... I feel that I strongly need a change in my life. Somehow all the things here in Prague are slowly coming to the end and I have the feeling that it's time to move on...I'm very much looking forward to starting a different life from the beginning, to being surrounded by new people and to having an intense team experience... 31 more days to go....

31 days seem to be quite a lot of time to get ready but actually it's not... In those 31 days I need to finish my bachelor thesis, study for my state exam and pass it, finish transition with my successor, pack and enjoy my bye-bye party...

But it is not just about starting my new life in Rotterdam, but it's also about finishing my MC experience. Maybe it's strange, but I'm not sad. I'm grateful for having a chance to spend one year with an amazing team and for doing a job that I loved ...

Macedonia...experience as never before

One month has passed and so many things has happened in my life during that time...

Well, the most impactful experience was my travel to Macedonia for IPM, the conference where I went to stand for AIESEC International. I guess that the most of you already know the results. I was not selected but I'm not sad because of that, I do not feel like failing at all. Going through the whole selection process was an experience that will stay in my mind for a long time - huge learning as well as time when I got to know myself as never before.

Now I'm not talking just about the interview, I mean the whole process you go through once you start filling in the application. Everything starts with one click when you sumbitt your application. By that you hardly know what you're committing to. You just want to let others know that you're the one who has pictures in your mind about how the next year can look like. Then when the time comes and you're finally heading to IPM, you know that this is the conference which will change your life, you just don't know in which direction...

I felt the same, I was excited as well as scared from what's waiting for me there...But when I got there I realized that there are 35 more people like me, people who are feeling insecure about their future, people with sparkles in their eyes, people who are somehow connected even though they have never met before. I noticed that during the candidates dinner when we were sharing our feelings.

For me IPM was also about waiting a lot because I was the last candidate to be interviewed. Even though I spent more than a week waiting for my interview, I still can say that I enjoyed that time a lot...

There are several moments that stayed in my mind...
- going for a boat trip
- having reflections by the amazing lake that was near our hotel
- building deep connections with some other candidates by sharing our feelings
- having great talks with my close friends that I have not seen for a long time

The only dark side of IPM was the virus that has spread around that almost all the people got sick, including me. Which was quite challenging as the most important week of my term was waiting for me. But I have finally overcome that and in few days I am heading to Russia for Expro...

And what comes next? I'm not giving up my dreams...A new application and whole selection process is waiting for me again... But I feel to be different now, I feel to be stronger and more self-aware...

Time to move on...

Uff… long time has passed again since I have been posting on my blog. It’s not because there is nothing to write but it’s because there is no time for it…no time at all!!

The reason why I am writing now is not because I have finally more time but it’s because I just feel that it’s time to do that again…

Since the beginning of this year, my days have been extremely busy – running from one company meeting to the other one, fulfilling my MC responsibilities, arranging stuff around Career Days to be sure that they will run smoothly etc. This 1,5 month has stretched my limits a lot… It was one of the most intense times I have gone through so far… especially because of decision about my next steps…running for AI.

For quite some time I have been thinking that this is the direction I want to take after the end of my term. But making the final decision was much more difficult than I expected. Because it’s not just about my work, but it’s also about moving to different country, leaving my friends and family here, postponing my studies… Now I feel that this is exactly where I want to go… I want to challenge myself, I want to have the responsibility, I want to work in a diverse team on the global level, I want to move to different country and start from the beginning there…

On Saturday I’m leaving to Macedonia for two weeks… Just thinking how much this experience will change me… how will Petra look like when she comes back to Prague again… On 25^th my Day D is coming…I’m scared, I’m excited and I can’t wait to go through that experience…

I have not been posting on this blog already for three months, but this time of the year somehow makes me think about past months and all the experience I went through.

When I look back, I think that last 12 months were the most diverse months in my life so far. I have never had so many up and downs in one year - being selected for MC, illness, starting a relationship and breaking up, making new friends, travels to 8 countries... Thanks to that I've learned to be grateful for what I have and to value every single experience in my life...

My first whole month in the MC office

As I have finally a free evening, I decided to use it to update my blog. Not a bad idea after 25 days...:-)

So what has happen during those more than three weeks?
ER functional meeting...
ER rulezzz... Together with Petula we were delivering different kinds of knowledge to our lovely local VP ERs. We spent nice time together, our agenda was relaxed and we also had time for different things than only working ... for example: posing to take cool pictures in our new ER corporates.
MC holidays
Two days that we spent out of office. During MC holidays we decided to visit a famous castle called Karlstejn. Fortunately the weather was nice so we spend a lot of time taking different pictures. Thanks to endless jokes of our guys we had a lot of fun. We finished the day chatting with Shisha. What a nice and relaxing day....

Brno LC visit...
I spent almost two days in Brno for my first LC coaching visit. I used the time there to meet EB members and two teamleaders to talk about their issues. We went to the party but there were not many people so we ended up talking at dorms. I'm very much looking forward to joining them for LTC and meeting their newies.

Davis Cup
On Sunday I managed to attend CZE:SUI Davis Cup match. It was so cool watching world no.1 Federrer playing and feeling the atmosphere of 15000 spectators cheering up Czech team. After very thrilling fifth match CZE won 3:2!!!!....I was so proud to be there.....It reminded me times when I used to play tennis as well. I miss it now a lot. Somehow it's not very compatible with my mc term but I hope that once I will get back to it again.

IC 2007...experience like no other

After 14 days spent in Istanbul IC is over...I'm at home, compeletely exhausted and I try to recall all the important memories from those two weeks. IC is a very intense experience, you live it at full but when you are there you can hardly understand what this exeperience mean for you... It takes time to realize that and to completely understand it.

With me it's the same... During those two weeks, I didn't have any time to stop and think about what was going on. Getting up early in the morning, having meetings during breakfast then participating at sessions, having meetings during lunches and dinners as well, meetings after the agenda, party and little bit of sleep - that's the way how I spent almost every day - very exhausting but on the other hand I still had enough energy to go on especiall thanks to being surrounded by people who are very close to me...

"At home" period is over

5 weeks of being at home are over.

So many things happened during these weeks, so many thoughts came to my mind, so many different feelings I had...and now, a new beginning is in front of me.

I'm very excited about next weeks that are coming, on the other hand I'm also worried how I will cope with such a big change... I know that I still should keep my own regime and not to start overworking but it will be very difficult to remember that once I'm back at the office, especially when I know that there are so many things that need to be done before I leave to Turkey.

I'm sure that I'm coming to Prague as a different person than when I was leaving it. My priorities have changed and I have finally realized what's really important in my life. Thanks to spending hours talking on msn or skype, I found out how crucial is to have close friends around who can support me in difficult times. I have learnt how it is to work alone and be responsible for my results. I have learnt to be grateful for what I have and value every experience in my life...

During this period I also spent nice time with my family and friends. I have improved my driving skills (It was high time to do that:-), I had a lot of fun with my dog and tried to play golf. So many nice memories...

How am I doing...

Well, right now it's my 26th day at home... (I just counted that:-)

I didn't realize that I have been at home for so long, the time is running so fast...
My health is slowly getting better, it seems that the last week at home is in front of me and hopefully my travel to Turkey should be also manageable. (with some restrictions)

This month was really challenging, I have never experienced so many up and downs in my life. On the other hand, it's very nice to feel the support of people around me who are taking care of my health sometimes even more than I do.

My days are mainly about work, I try to fullfill my responsibilities from my home and so far it's going pretty well. I have learnt to work on my own, use all ways of virtual communication as much as possible and I try to keep in touch with the rest of my team. Right now, whole MC team left for our summer national conference - SustrCo. Unfortunately, I can't participate, therefore I have created a video for them. Due to my IT skills, it really take a lot of time to do that but it was worth! You can check it here

Actually, I had a lot of fun when creating the video but my dog was a little bit bored and scared at the same time :-)

In one day, my plans have changed. I got the mononucleosis and therefore I have to spend July at home. So I set up my own office at home and try to manage all my work from home. I still hope that I will be able to go to IC, Turkey. But ... nothing is certain.

Team to team transition

Few days after I came back from Rotterdam, our team to team transition started. Firstly, we were at the mc office and mc flat getting to know all the stuff that is there. Streight after we left to a village called Psovlky. We spent there five days when we tried to get to know as much as possible about AIESEC CR and all the processes that are connected with that. It was tough but interesting. We talked a lot about LC realities, conference management, year flow etc. From that time I started to feel the responsibility that is with MC connected. Apart from work, we also managed to play tennis, have barbeque, play drinking games, do MC parody and have a lot of interesting talks.

I would like to thank to current MC for their effort that they put into these five days.

Global Brand Principles meeting – Rotterdam

Again after very long time I’m back to update you what’s going on with me.

In the middle of May, I spent one cool week at AIESEC International in Rotterdam working on Global Brand. There were ten people who were selected to participate at the meeting + the meeting was attended by some AI members:

The meeting was really cool thanks to diversity of people who were there. But not only because of that, it gave me interesting insight to branding and all things connected to that. It was amazing to work on an international level and now that our decisions will be shaping the next evolution of branding among the whole AIESEC network.

But the week was not just about work…(as usual). Our team was joining AI for their team dinners which was actually very funny experience. Every day there was a different cooking team cooking for the rest. It’s very cool idea how to connect people and have fun together… On Saturday, Habib took me for a sightseeing in Rotterdam, later Ondro and Gabiza joined us and we went to the traditional market. In the evening we were joining Ildi’s and Ryan’s engagement party. The party was very nice; many people came so we had a lot of fun and end up partying in the club. On Sunday, before I left, I went to Amsterdam with Anastasia (MCP of Russia) to do some sightseeing there. Waking up after the party was not very pleasant, but at the end it was worth to get up early and spend time with her in Amsterdam.

NatCo 2007 - Make it happen

The same conference site, similar people but unique experience ...

NatCo 2007

The last conference of current MC, the first one for our new elected team. It was a huge event with 6 different tracks where the conference team counted more than 30 people.

Here are the special moments of the conference which will stay in my mind:

- dancing MC dance for the first time at the opening plenary

- not joining LC Prague for their roll call but perfoming different roll calls with LC Brno and LC CZU (I'm coaching these two LCs)

- speaking in front of the whole plenary (cca 200 ppl) with a mic that was not really working :-)

- LC Prague not winning The Best LC Award - a lot of emotions, some tears but also happiness to see and feel how the members tried to support each other

- participation on MC rotation and getting "slightly" drunk thanks to a generosity of our LCs

- wearing my own Czech Hockey Jersey and dancing on the stage

- watching stars till the early morning with a person very special to me

- having headache on Sunday morning as a consequence of Saturday's MC rotation

- listening to closing speaches of our current MC and imagining me standing there next year

After several busy weeks in Prague, I managed to have a few days off. This Easter I spent with my family skiing in Austria. Last months I didn’t have so much time to be at home so it was very nice to spend few days with them. Imagine being at 3200 meters above the see level, having more than 300cm snow and spring sunny weather..

I’m totally exhausted after days full of skiing but these days gave me a lot of energy for upcoming months.

If you don’t know what to do next Easter, I recommend you to visit Mölltaler Gletscher…It’s worth to experience it.

It has been so long since I last posted here….

So many things happen in these three months so I will focus on the most important once:

- I was selected for Czech MC which means that from the beginning of July I will be working as MC VP External Relations

- I have finished my EB term few days ago. I still have some work to finish but it’s nice to see my successor taking over my responsibilities

- I attended Career Days – one of the biggest projects of AIESEC in the Czech Republic where students have the possibility to meet many companies (their potential future employers) . This year Career Days were attended by the highest number of students in history…Well, I’m very curious about the next year because this event will be under my responsibility :-)

Last weeks of 2006 snapshot

I have just realized that thanks to many tests that were waiting for me, I have almost forgotten to update my blog. Actually, quite a lot of things happened since I last posted here. So here we go...:

LC day - a traditional tram party which always brings its success:-) finished in traditional Lucerna Music Bar at the 80's & 90's Party. It was very funny to see at least 30 members of our LC rocking on the stage ...

Bachelor exam - I successfully managed to pass my ninth bachelor exam (out of 12)

X-mas Party - there can't be Christmas without having X-mas Party with a performance delivered by EB. This year, it was our turn to take care of it. You can check the results... Moreover it was an evening full of hot wein, christmas songs, presents and nice atmosphere.

Christmas - Finally, I had a week to spend at home with my brother and parents. It was so nice to be at home for longer time and not feel just as a visitor as usual when I go home.

New Year's Eve in Prague - This was my second NYE that I spent in Prague, but this one was without no doubts the best one! I enjoyed a lot being together with facis from Energy and also meeting delegates from Twin or other conferences. We again organized a tram party, party in Lucerna, went to opera and also spent midnight at the Petrin hill with an amazing view of Prague. Check the photos here:

It has been a year...

Nalds 2005, Germany

It has been a year since I attended a conference called Nalds. Many words have been said about it, many stories from the conference are shared in our LC. But there is nothing more than spending this amazing week in Sonnenberg. Last year I was very excited about going there. I was a bit worried what to expect because everybody was highly recommending this event to me.

What actually happened?

I spent there one amazing week when I:

- was trying to define my values and vision

- was challenged a lot by my faci

- was in very inspiring homegroup with seven other people

- reflected a lot on my way of living

- experienced international conference for the first time

This week I received a letter. It was not the usual one that I’m used to receive. This one was written in my handwriting and it was a letter that I wrote exactly one year ago during the last evening at Nalds. It was very nice to read all my thoughts and imagine all the changes that happen in my life during this year. I wish to have an opportunity to live this experience again…

It has been more than week since this amazing conference finished and I still feel the spirit of the conference deep in my heart. I would never say that just one week can have such a big impact on me:

- help me to discover more about myself

- experience real team spirit

- push my limits in terms of sleeping and given energy:-)

- give me a lot of new motivation and inspiration for my work

- show me how my impact can look like

Energy 2006, Siauliai ,Lithuania - Faci Premeeting

When going to Vilnius by bus with Hana, we weren’t very sure what to expect. We didn’t know if somebody would pick us up, if we had a place where to stay for a night etc. After we arrived to Vilnius, we were amazed because Giedrus (OC member) was waiting there and then took special care of us – he was our guide for the whole day and in the evening he took us together with Irena and Ümit to Siauliai by his car. Btw. that was excellent unplanned teambuilding in a car …

During Tuesday almost all facis (Slavik…hmm?) arrived to the site of the premeeting and we slowly started with planned teambuildingJ Next two days were in the name of sessions preparation. These days were full of touches, getting to know each other, learning, work and fun.

For the X-track, we managed to create Czech-Estonian cooperation
of facis that included me, Hana, Kadi and Siim. The AIESEC XP Simulation was the most challenging task for all of us. I was ready to fight with it with my co-faci - Jonathan aka Tiger from Hong-Kong.

At the end of the premeeting, even though all of us still had a lot of work, we managed to have chill-out together and slowly got to the conference mood and also all of us received our black faci T-shirts ;-)

I will never forget …

What happend? 24 newies, EB, 6 TLs, oldies and alumnies met together to spend 3 unforgettable days together.

I have been to LTC three times. But still it has some magic for me.

For the first time, I was a confused newie who had no clue what was going on around - many dances, roll calls, strange abbreviations and wild parties. Those were my memories after one weekend spent with AIESEC. For the second time, I was a teamleader who was excited about building up a new team composed of newies.

And the third time? I had a responsibility of a conference manager. For me, it was one of the most challenging roles that I had in AIESEC. It was not only because of the responsibility itself but also because of a lot of changes that were made in the concept of the conference. At the same time, I was a facilitator, which allowed me to get in touch with our newies. I enjoyed facilitation of our home group a lot, especially seeing the development of the team work and team communication within the group.

These both roles were very demanding but thanks to our newies I still had enough energy to manage them with a smile on my face. They were my source of motivation during the whole conference.

But I was not the only one working on the conference…

The chair (Matthias) brought a lot of inspiration, EB team spent many hours facilitating home groups, our OC did amazing job during the whole conference and the outdoor team ensured the high level of craziness all the time.

This is my experience from my third LTC. It also made me think what my role would be at this conference next year – delegate, alumni, MC visit, LCP…?!? Still a lot of time to decide.

EB holidays - High Tatras, Slovakia
With our EB we spent an amazing week in Slovakia. Living in a house of Roman's relatives, hiking every day almost 10 hours, biking in the mountains...simply having fun together made this week an excellent teambuilding for us.

After two week period full of hard work we decided to celebrate a bit our results and show our CEEDers how parties in Prague are:-)

ITC reflection

It's one week since I came back from Lithuania from ITC, full of ideas, thoughts and feelings. It's hard to describe what I experienced there - all participants certainly remember singing Dead Puppies, endless announcements, Sharon Stone or Jesus... It was an amazing week because of the unique atmosphere, excellent group of facis, chair and delegates. Thanks for that! I will never forget.

I would have never thought that a learning environment could be so interesting topic which would capture me so much. But I don't want to see ITC just only an amazing week in my life but I really want to use all my enthusiasm to bring as much back in concrete steps that will be taken. That's the thing that occupied me most in these days. Still I'm looking for the right way how to make others understand what we experienced there.
